Everything’s better with some Game Of Thrones wine in the belly
If the only thing stopping you from playing the Game Of Thrones drinking game with licensed libations was an aversion to hops, we have some good news. HBO’s branching out from the brewery to the winery with a line of proprietary blends. The cable network’s teamed up with Vintage Wine Estates to sell bottles of red wine, chardonnay, and Cabernet Sauvignon to fans of the show who’d rather raise a goblet to Daenerys’ victories than a mug, or just alternate sipping and sobbing with during the latest major character death. In a statement, HBO’s director of licensing and retail Jeff Peters acknowledged the important role wine plays on the series and in living rooms all over the world whenever a new season is on.
“Given the prominent role of wine on Game of Thrones and our previous success in the beverage category, an officially licensed wine for the show feels like a natural extension for our fans. Game of Thrones wines most definitely will add to the fan experience as the battle for the Iron Throne heats up heading into the final seasons.”
The red and chardonnay will go for $20 each, while the Cabernet Sauvignon is twice as much at $40 a bottle. Both prices are within the affordable range for the smallfolk, allowing us to pretend we’re sitting on the Iron Throne before kneeling in front of the porcelain one.
