Evil Dead goes off-Broadway

Evil Dead: The Musical, based on Sam Raimi's trilogy, is earning positive reviews from the New York Times and Reuters. The latter makes the musical sound like a badass version of a Gallagher show:

As for the blood that eventually shoots across the stage, in a gigantic spurtfest, it wouldn't fool anyone. (Still, if you buy tickets in the "splatter zone" — the first three rows — it's probably a good idea to take advantage of the ponchos the management hands out.)

At the show's official site, you can play around in the cabin where it all started. The musical may wake something dark in the woods (what with song titles like "All The Men In My Life Keep Getting Killed By Canadian Demons"), but it's got the approval of Raimi and Evil Dead star Bruce Campbell, who hosted a Q & A at one of the show's recent performances.
