Ex Machina’s Alex Garland to make TV shows for FX
Alex Garland has proven his cinematic chops already, writing stuff like 28 Days Later, Sunshine, and Dredd, and last year he gained even more recognition when he landed an Academy Award nomination for Ex Machina—which he wrote and directed. Now, FX wants him to come and do cool stuff on TV, with Deadline reporting that the network’s production label has signed him to an exclusive overall deal to “develop, write, and produce television projects.”
We obviously don’t have any idea what those TV projects might be yet, but Garland’s movie career suggests that they should be some interesting genre stuff. In a statement from FX executive Eric Schrier, he said that Garland’s “gifts as a writer have long been apparent, and he made a huge impression with his directorial debut Ex Machina.”
