Exclusive Marvel preview: Guardians and Avengers unite in Guardians Team-Up #1

Nobody can say Marvel doesn’t know how to capitalize on a good thing, and after their hugely successful big-screen debut, the Guardians of the Galaxy have popped up all over the publisher’s output. Rocket Raccoon and Star-Lord both have their own ongoing series (with a Gamora series planned for 2015, helmed by Guardians Of The Galaxy film co-writer Nicole Perlman), and next week sees the launch of Guardians Team-Up, a new ongoing series that pairs the cosmic superhero team with different faces in the Marvel Universe.

Each issue of Guardians Team-Up will feature a different creative team, and Marvel has put two of its big guns on the book for the debut issue: writer Brian Michael Bendis (of the main GOTG series) and legendary artist Art Adams. These blockbuster names are attached to a blockbuster team-up of the Guardians and the Avengers, giving Adams the opportunity to draw a wide variety of Marvel characters, including the new female Thor and Sam Wilson Captain America, in action.

The visuals are exactly as gorgeous as you’d expect from a master of the medium, and this preview of next week’s Guardians Team-Up #1 spotlights the meticulous detail and dynamic action that have made Adams a major force in the industry, even if his interior artwork is becoming more and more of a rarity. He’s sadly only drawing this first issue of the series, but even one issue of new Art Adams pencils is a win for fans of beautiful superhero comics.
