The cover of next week’s Storm #2 promises a confrontation between Storm and Callisto of the Morlocks—a society of mutants that live in the sewers of New York City—and it should be one hell of a match, considering the history between the two women. Back in the ’80s, Storm defeated Callisto in battle and briefly became the leader of the Morlocks, and it’s unlikely that Callisto has let go of her grudge.
Ororo is taking a breather before that face-off, hitting a local bar with her boyfriend Wolverine in this preview of Storm #2. It’s a sweet scene looking at how Wolverine has influenced his girlfriend’s current behavior, and shows off Ibáñez’s skill at staging more intimate moments. Storm and Wolverine hitting the dance floor isn’t what readers would normally expect from an X-comic, but taking a less conventional approach is what makes Storm stand out in a crowded superhero landscape.
