Exclusive: Tokyo Police Club covers Phoenix
Our pals in Tokyo Police Club—see them September 11 at A.V. Fest!—have embarked on a covers project spanning the last decade. We'd like to think they were inspired by joining us for A.V. Undercover last year: Their game is a little bit like ours. They're choosing five possible songs from each year spanning 2001-2010, then narrowing it to one, then rehearsing and recording the cover in 10 hours—and releasing it the next day. We'll be premiering two of those covers, including this one, a rollicking version of Phoenix's awesome 2006 song "Long Distance Call." Tomorrow we'll have another, and in the meantime you can visit the project's home page here to listen to covers of Moby, Kelly Clarkson, and Queens Of The Stone Age.
