After about three years of its "indefinite" hiatus, Fall Out Boy is definitely back in action. The band has announced a new, Butch Walker-produced record, Save Rock And Roll, as well as a full tour, including surprise shows this week in Chicago, New York, and Los Angeles. It's also released a new single complete with a typically wordy, FOB-style moniker: “My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark (Light Em Up).” Save Rock And Roll is out May 7 and available for pre-order now.
Just last week, members of Fall Out Boy were denying that the group was getting back together, with both guitarist Joe Trohman and frontman Patrick Stump tweeting messages to that effect. This morning, the group released a statement saying that, while the band never broke up, this reunion-that’s-not-really-a-reunion came because the group “needed to plug back in and make some music that matters to us.” Since FOB went on hiatus, members have been doing other, apparently less important projects, including bassist Pete Wentz’s not-great new novel and time in dubstep act Black Cards, Trohman and drummer Andy Hurley’s dabbling with Scott Ian in metalcore supergroup The Damned Things, and Stump’s much-maligned solo record Soul Punk.
