Fall TV finally makes its triumphant return

Here’s what’s happening in the world of television for Sunday, September 10. All times are Eastern. Let’s hope you cleared out your DVR over the weekend.

Top picks

The Deuce (HBO, 9 p.m.)/The Orville (Fox, 8p.m.)/Outlander (Starz, 8 p.m.)/Top Of The Lake (Sundance, 8p.m.): Pick ’em: Would you rather explore The Deuce’s Wire-like dive into the world of prostitution with Erik Adams, or take on Seth MacFarlane’s Star Trek homage The Orville with Nick Wanserski? Visit the time travel romance of Outlander with Kayla Kumari Upadhyaya, or investigate Top Of The Lake’s “China Girl” mystery with Brandon Nowalk? September is like Christmas over here at TV Club, so we look forward to watching all of our new and returning favorites with you. If you’re not sure what to check out, give our Fall TV Preview Guide a read.

Regular coverage

BoJack Horseman (Netflix): Thank god it’s back and just as devastating as ever.
Narcos (Netflix)
The Strain (FX, 10 p.m.)
Insecure (HBO, 10:30 p.m.)
Rick And Morty (Adult Swim, 11:30 p.m.)

Wild card

Ally McBeal (Hulu): We fell down quite a wormhole recently while researching for this 100 Episodes article. And we were happy to discover that Ally McBeal’s entire run is available on Hulu. So if you’re curious to see what all the single-female-lawyer fuss was about, or would just like to revisit the show on its 20th anniversary, we recommend checking it out. Important: Stick with seasons one and two (the Golden Globe-winning seasons) and the Robert Downey Jr. episodes in season four. And stay away from season five at all costs.
