Sleepy Hollow (Fox, 9 p.m.): The promos for the midseason finale of Sleepy Hollow look like trailers for the best apocalyptic action film of the season. For all the problems season two has had (Bye, Katrina!), “The Akeda” looks like Sleepy Hollow in top form. First of all, Abbie and Ichabod find a pentagram:
Which can only mean one thing: APOCALYPSE!!!!! Abbie and Ichabod once again have to protect all of humanity from the end of the world, with the help of Frank and his special sword. Abbie takes Ichabod on her motorcycle, and he’s very concerned by the lack of seatbelts and helmets, but it’s the end of the world! Who cares about motorcycle safety?!

Greatest Holiday Commercials Countdown (The CW, 9 p.m.): Nothing like replacing Jane The Virgin’s usual timeslot with a TV special about commercials to remind you that life is meaningless! Yes, a TV special about commercials. This is what the world is coming to. Maybe we should just tell Abbie and Ichabod to take a sick day and watch it all burn.
CMA Country Christmas (ABC, 8 p.m.): Jennifer Nettles hosts an evening of holiday songs and memories from country-music stars. But Lucy Hale and Idina Menzel are also scheduled to appear? We’re confused, but we just imagined a world in which Idina Menzel and Aria Montgomery have to stop the apocalypse, and it was equal parts beautiful and tragic.
Castle (ABC, 10 p.m.): Castle and Beckett have to look into the past of a famous 1980s action-movie star who is murdered. The stakes seem pretty low when compared to what’s on Abbie and Ichabod’s plates this week. Now that we think about it, Castle and Beckett wouldn’t be that great at stopping an apocalypse.
State Of Affairs (NBC, 10 p.m.): This week, State Of Affairs tries to bring major headlines to its narrative, and based on the trajectory this show has had so far, it will only scratch the surface of its central themes and never manage to say all that much. This all begs the question: WOULD CHARLESTON TUCKER BE ABLE TO STOP THE APOCALYPSE? We’re going to go with a solid “no.” But she would definitely put on her This Is Serious Business glasses when analyzing that pentagram:
The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 (SHO2e, 6 p.m.): Ancient vampires are trying to destroy the world! War! Shirtless men! Hey, we here at What’s On Tonight can’t think of a better person to spend the final hours of life on Earth with than Kristen Stewart.
Elf (ABC Family, 8 p.m.): But if you’re more of the holiday spirit, most wonderful time of the year, blah blah blah type person, you can also watch Elf.
Monday Night Football: Dolphins at N.Y. Jets (ESPN, 8:15 p.m.): Even in an apocalypse, you can count on there being football on Monday nights. Tonight, the Miami Dolphins take on the New York Jets.
