Barring an act of God or a massive giggle-fueled coronary, Jimmy Fallon will appear at a press conference today with mentor Lorne Michaels to announce that, yes, he will be replacing Conan O'Brien as host of Late Night starting in 2009. If a press conference seems a bit anticlimactic since we already knew this a long time ago, apparently NBC almost thought the same thing. But according to The New York Times, the opportunity to give Fallon a formal introduction to the network's advertisers won out. After all, Jimmy might crack up! That's hilarious!
