Family Guy stopped joking long enough to pay tribute to Carrie Fisher

In addition to her numerous, iconic roles in film and television, Carrie Fisher did her fair share of voice acting work. Most notably, she voiced Angela, manager of Pawtucket Brewery’s shipping department and Peter Griffin’s boss on Family Guy. With the two-year anniversary of Carrie Fisher’s passing just around the corner, Family Guy took time out of last night’s episode to pay tribute to both the actress and her character with a touching eulogy.

There are jokes in there too, of course. In fact, it’s mostly jokes—this is Family Guy after all. But, after quoting multiple sitcom theme songs and providing a goofy reason for Angela’s death (“Swimming less than twenty minutes after she ate.”), Peter’s eulogy takes on a more serious tone, clearly referring more towards Fisher than the character of Angela. “She had grace, courage, and an unmatched zest for life,” he says. “She may be gone, but her voice will live on in DVD and Hulu Plus and tiny droid-projected messages. I may have lost a boss, but heaven has gained a princess.”
