Family Guy to have Trump prey on Meg in worst hour of television imaginable
In what Seth MacFarlane no doubt imagines will be a friggin’ schweet bit of television, Fox’s Family Guy will unleash its bright orange markers for a two-part episode featuring our shitty president.
Entertainment Weekly reports that the hourlong event will find patriarch Peter Griffin becoming a local news commentator after his hair turns gray. He proves so adept at disseminating fake news that Donald Trump himself promotes him to press secretary, leading the Griffins to Washington and daughter Meg into a friendship with Ivanka Trump. Ivanka gives Meg a makeover, which draws the attention of Trump who reportedly tries to grab…oh, Christ, you know where this is going.
“In the history of the show, Peter hasn’t been that paternal with Meg, but he certainly likes Meg than he likes Donald Trump, and that’s saying something,” executive producer Rich Appel told EW. In a description that’s currently causing our hair to fall out in thick, gory chunks, Appel says the pair engage in “an epic, many-minute-long fight” that finds Trump’s wet hair turning into a “cat o’nine tails.” Presumably, the sequence will also find Peter remembering the time Sean Hannity ate a whole turkey and jumped out a window or something.
Fox didn’t have many notes for the episode, which consists of jokes about Trump’s hair and not something that actually enrages him, like how he’s not nearly as rich or successful as he constantly says he is.
“Initially there was kind of a feeling of, well, the network is going to have to think about whether we can do this whole Trump episode,” executive producer Alec Sulkin added. “And I think a couple things happened. One, they read the script and enjoyed it, and said, ‘Yes, of course you can do this.’ And two, something that helped is just that Trump continued to be so preposterous on a daily basis that it really made it seem like this was an episode that we had to do. It wasn’t something where we were going to be besmirching of the office of the president of the United States because, you know, he’s doing that for us.”
Ooh, burn.
Family Guy returns for its 17th season this Sunday.
