Iconic Beatles producer George Martin was working on a documentary series for PBS before his death earlier this month, reportedly spending five years gathering interviews with over 150 musical artists. Now, PBS has released a trailer for the eight-part series, which is titled Soundbreaking: Stories From The Cutting Edge Of Recorded Music. The trailer—which comes from Rolling Stone—features quick glimpses of Ringo Starr, Elton John, St. Vincent, Bonnie Raitt, and Don Was talking about their own experiences and the work of other legendary musicians, like The Rolling Stones, The Beatles (obviously), Tom Petty, the Beastie Boys, RZA, and a whole bunch of others across a lot of different genres. The trailer doesn’t feature any music from those people, though, with The Black Keys providing the soundtrack instead. (Probably because they’re so much cheaper and less exciting than any of the other acts involved.)
The first two episodes of Soundbreaking are premiering at SXSW this week, and the series will start airing on PBS in November.
