Famously handsome soccer star gets the Scary Lucy statue treatment

Portuguese soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo is a famously handsome dude. (Here’s a quick Google image search, in case you’re feeling “citation needed” on that score.) But not even handsome punters are safe at the hands of the relentless scourge known as art, as proven when a new statue of Ronaldo—debuted this week at the Portugal airport recently renamed in his honor—transformed this:

The internet was quick to express its horror at the statue, drawing a number of parallels between him and other pop culture monsters:

If there’s a moral to all this, it might be “Vet the hell out of your sculptors, people.” (Or possibly, “Sculpting eyes—and necks, and faces—is just really, really hard.”)
