Fantastic Beasts sequel will have an international wizard hunt

Having summoned four sequels, Warner Bros. is getting to work on the next Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them movie. The spin-off franchise kicked things off in 1920s New York, where Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) played a little hide-and-seek with magical creatures before boarding a ship back to England. And according to Deadline, the second film in the series will pick up in London before journeying to Paris, as Scamander and his companions—including Katherine Waterston’s Tina—pursue Grindelwald (Johnny Depp).

Filming has already begun on Fantastic Beasts 2, which was written by J.K. Rowling, who also tackled the first film (and obviously everything that came before it). The log line for the sequel teases Grindelwald’s amassing of “more followers to his cause,” which is to “[elevate] wizards above all non-magical beings.” As always, Albus Dumbledore will be there to fight this evil. But since this is a younger iteration of the character—who’s being played by Jude Law, the go-to actor for hot characters in robes—he’s going to need the help of his former student, Newt. Queenie (Alison Sudol) and Jacob (Dan Fogler) will also be back on the wizard hunt, while Newt’s brother Theseus (Green Room’s Callum Turner), who was mentioned in the first film, has apparated into the sequel.

The wizarding gang (and Jacob) will also head to Paris, which is where Grindelwald tries to take refuge in the books and film. David Yates is returning to direct the sequel, which is set for a November 16, 2018 release.
