Federal authorities somehow knew drugs might be found at jam band festival

The Jam Cruise—a six-day floating music festival on the high seas that featured performances by the Grateful Dead’s Bob Weir, American Idol’s Taylor Hicks, Galactic, Robert Randolph, Maceo Parker, and more—was raided by multiple federal agencies and the local sheriff’s department last week before it could set sail from its Florida port. Although the ship was eventually allowed to leave the dock and continue on to the western Caribbean, it did so only after authorities made 15 arrests and seizures of illegal drugs, including small quantities of marijuana, ecstasy, LSD, and mushrooms, all of which would seem crucial to the enjoyment of something called a Jam Cruise.
