Felicity Jones in talks to star in Gareth Edwards’ standalone Star Wars movie

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Felicity Jones is currently in talks to play the female lead in Gareth Edward’s standalone Star Wars movie, emerging triumphant over fellow candidates Tatiana Maslany and Rooney Mara. This is obviously the best moment of Jones’ life, which so far has consisted of only boring, everyday occurrences like appearing in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and being nominated for an Oscar.

This news will come as a disappointment to the four people who were excited about Jones’ rumored role in the third installment of Ron Howard’s Da Vinci Code series, which, should Jones accept the Star Wars role, she will almost certainly be ditching. (Wouldn’t you?) It also coincides with the purported Boba Fett movie on that list of rumored Star Wars sequels that leaked last May, a rumor that has continued to gain traction in the months since.

This presents several possibilities, including that the list was nonsense and the movie won’t be about Boba Fett at all (possible) or that Jones will play another, non-Boba Fett character in the film (perhaps Fett’s wife Sintas Vel?). As for Fett himself, The Hollywood Reporter also indicates that Aaron Paul and Edgar Ramirez are on Disney’s “interest list” for a male lead. Of course, none of this has been confirmed, and Disney continues to keep its lips tightly sealed about what the movie, due in theaters on December 16, 2016, will actually be about. But we certainly look forward to a rational discussion free of rumors and hearsay about the subject in the meantime.
