Fewer mazes, still lots of running in the trailer for Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials
Having done run that maze they ran in the first movie, the fleet-footed teens from The Maze Runner are at it once again, scampering all over the place in the trailer for Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials, the sequel to 2014’s labyrinth-based stab at the YA dystopian crown. The new installment sees Dylan O’Brien and Kaya Scodelario dashing through corridors and across the desert, pursued by a sinister organization called WICKED, which appear to be running some sort of seemingly benevolent high-tech conspiracy, despite being burdened with a Get Smart-level Acronym Of Evil.
There’s no sign of Giancarlo Esposito in the trailer, but Game Of Thrones’ Aidan Gillen is on hand to give the kids the full Littlefinger treatment, trying to lure them into working for him with hints about WICKED’s true agenda. Presumably, our heroes have been too busy practicing their cardio to realize that James Dashner’s books have been out for, like, half a decade by now, and they could all just go on Wikipedia if they really wanted to know what the deal with all these mazes and scorches and whatnots actually is.
