Fifty Shades Of Grey to finally be retold from a man’s perspective
Finally, audience members who walked out of Fifty Shades Of Grey, light-headed from pheromones and a Moscato contact high, and said to themselves, “Yeah, but what would a man think about all of this?,” will be satisfied. Variety reports that the Fifty Shades Of Grey trilogy is becoming a quadrilogy, as author E.L. James is reportedly preparing a book re-telling the events of the original novel from Christian Grey’s perspective.
The move, which the cynical might interpret as either a way for James to maintain her lavish lifestyle of just buying people cars and selling their old ones without asking them or as a scheme cooked up by James’ husband to keep her out of his hair while he writes the screenplay for Fifty Shades Darker, is reportedly due to popular demand from fans of the series, who have presumably turned to reading dirty Anne Rice novels in their desperation. Confused and terrified at the prospect of tightly written prose, these Grey-pies have apparently been inundating James with requests for a peek inside Grey’s perfectly coiffed head—Jaime Dornan, who played Grey in the movie, certainly wasn’t giving much away—sending her inner goddess to the laptop once again:
“Christian is a complex character and readers have always been fascinated by his desires and motivations, and his troubled past,” James says. “Also, as anyone who has ever been in a relationship knows, there are two sides to every story. It’s been a great pleasure to return to my happy place-writing, being with Christian and Ana in their universe, and working with the fantastic team at Vintage.”
Christian Grey is a pretty uptight guy, so we’re guessing his inner god does the Elaine. We suppose we’ll find out when the book, Grey, hits stores, hard and repeatedly, on June 18.
