Fill your ears with the sound of 1 billion Ducktales “woo-oos” simultaneously

The original DuckTales theme song is much more than nostalgia; it’s a genuine earworm, the type of hook that’d latch itself onto your brain no matter when it came out or why. That it happened to be attached to a beloved childhood cartoon just added to the appeal. Over the decades, its inimitable “woo-oo!” hook has become a sort of talisman among ’90s kids, an instant evocation of a pop culture entertainment that has stood the test of time.

And so at long last, Disney has decided to give the people what they want. No, not just a new version of the show (that’s good!), but also one fucking billion screams of “woo-oo,” a choir proclaiming the eternal spiraling reciprocity of culture, the echo chamber of the internet, the ceaseless march of time, and the way it refracts our memories into leviathans, distorted beyond all recognition from their sources. Scream, oh ducks, into our souls:

To be honest, this isn’t far off from what the J.J. Abrams version of the Star Wars universe is going to look like by the time it’s over—the thing you already like, a billion times per minute. Let’s start with Chewbacca screaming and go from there.
