Film collective The Final Girls celebrates women in horror with We Are The Weirdos U.K. screening tour
The all-female film collective known as The Final Girls has announced the return of its We Are The Weirdos tour, showcasing nine horror short films in select cinemas throughout the U.K. starting on Saturday, February 16.
The mission of The Final Girls is to shine a spotlight on up-and-coming female voices within the horror genre, making events such as these excellent avenues for filmmakers to get their films seen and supported on a wide scale. According to a press release, The Final Girls co-director Olivia Howe says, “building upon the success of our 2017 pilot, this year’s [program] not only celebrates the breadth and diversity of genre cinema, but champions what we believe are nine of the most exciting voices emerging in genre filmmaking. From animation to slashers to dark comedy, these films represent what horror cinema is capable of.”
We Are The Weirdos 2019 will start on Saturday, February 16th in Hyde Park, Leeds. And although the last tour date is set for February 28th in Nottingham, The Final Girls promise new dates will be added soon!
