Filming begins on Tarantino's Bastards in October

Filming of Inglorious Bastards, Quentin Tarantino's long gestating World War II epic, will begin in October, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The project was born back in the late '90s during the six-year break between Jackie Brown and Kill Bill, and was once a 600-page screenplay. The finished script is much shorter than that, though it's been reported that the film will be released in two parts, a la Kill Bill.

As with all of Tarantino's films, Harvey and Bob Weinstein will produce Inglorious Bastards. But THR reports that because "the production will film in Europe and is looking toward an accelerated production schedule so that it can be finished in time to submit to May's Festival de Cannes, the Weinsteins are looking to join forces with a major studio to come aboard to co-finance in exchange for foreign rights." No cast members have been announced, though THR says Brad Pitt might be in the mix, and Michael Madsen has been attached to the project in the past.
