It seems like we just did this, but there’s a “final” trailer for Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes now, one that features a surprising amount of new footage, compared to the previous two ones. Included in that footage are an ape using a machine gun, the assertion that apes are taking over the planet because they don’t need basic utilities, and the disquieting sensation that Jason Clarke and Matthew Rhys look really similar, so when you consider Keri Russell is also in this, you start thinking about how this could just be a lost Americans episode. Also, this movie appears to be about how voices advocating for understanding are usually drowned out by those who see only suspicion and argue only for war, so hint, hint, we guess.
Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes debuts July 11 and pretty much has the month to itself in terms of big popcorn entertainments. Doesn’t it seem like this summer has been ridiculously front-loaded? Please discuss this amongst yourselves.
