Find hope for humanity in this video of 65,000 people singing “Bohemian Rhapsody”

Counteracting the current mind-set that everything is terrible, some 65,000 fans waiting for the sold-out Green Day concert in London’s Hyde Park on July 1 organically collaborated on a giant, life-affirming sing-along. The song that united them all was Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody,” a rock epic that no mere mortal can withstand, and that music fans of all ages know all the words to, even if they don’t know they know them.

In the five-minute video shot from behind Tré Cool’s drum kit, you can spot many highlights: the cheery moment at the start when thousands of people realize that they’re singing along with thousands of other people, the clapping before the “I see a little silhouetto of a man” section, the inevitable head-banging and jumping up and down at the four-minute mark in praise of Brian May’s genius guitar, and the triumphant roar at the end. Even though the drum tech who briefly wanders in seems oblivious to the magnificence unfolding in front of him, everyone else in that crowd knows that sometimes you just need a Queen song to make some magic happen.
