Shameless’ sixth season ended with a bit of a cliffhanger, or, rather, a bridge-dropper. Several members of the Gallagher clan—including extended family like Vee—decided they’d had enough of Frank (William H. Macy) showing up to ruin their lives. So they dumped him into the Chicago River, hoping he’d forgotten how to float. They’re all in for a bit of a disappointment, as Frank’s health improves over the course of the season seven trailer. Not only that, but the Gallaghers’ piss-drunk patriarch tries to swap out his exasperated spawn with some kids he meets at shelter.
After suffering yet another romantic disappointment, Fiona (Emmy Rossum) tries to get her siblings to fall in line and contribute to a more productive household. Her ultimatum yields the expected results, including petty (maybe?) theft. The cinder block’s new, at least, though it can’t withstand Fiona’s long-simmering fury. Now we’re getting somewhere.
Shameless returns to Showtime for its 7th season on October 2.
