First Aquaman footage shows Jason Momoa bobbing around Atlantis

Zack Snyder may not be directing Aquaman—that’s James Wan’s job—but he’s still pretty pumped about watching the superhero show off his impressive power of possessing gills while otherwise being a very tall, very gorgeous man. The Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice director and Aquaman producer even ignored his own birthday to bring the people a clip of Jason Momoa swimming around his undersea kingdom, like a raven-haired Ariel. (We hope this means he has a flounder and crab for his best friends.)

This test footage is the first we’ve seen from the film, which Wan has promised will be a “swashbuckling” good time. The core cast includes Amber Heard as Mera; Nicole Kidman and Temuera Morrison as Aquaman’s parents; Patrick Wilson as his brother; and Yahya Abdul-Mahteen II as Black Manta. It’s slated to hit theaters October 5, 2018, by which time Wan and Snyder will have presumably struck a balance between their light and dark elements.
