First Good Omens trailer puts David Tennant and Michael Sheen's apocalyptic odd couple front and center

We’ve been cautiously optimistic about Neil Gaiman’s adaptation of Good Omens, his 1990 collaboration with late Discworld author Terry Pratchett, for a while now. That’s mostly on the strength of its cast, and specifically David Tennant and Michael Sheen, who seemed perfectly picked to take on the roles of the book’s agnostic demon and angle pairing, Crowley and Aziraphale.

Gaiman (and Amazon, and the BBC) apparently agreed, because Tennant and Sheen are front and center in the first trailer for the show, which was released today at New York Comic-Con. Scored to the tune of Queen’s “You’re My Best Friend”—a nod to a running joke between Gaiman and Pratchett that made its way into the book—the trailer lays out their 6,000-year friendship and desire not to see the End Of Days arrive, while also deploying enough raw ’shipper fuel to burn down the world all on its own.

Mind you, there aren’t any actual jokes on display, which is kind of a weird choice for an adaptation of a very funny book. But it does at least look extremely good (at least, depending on your feelings about Tennant’s various bright red haircuts, which range from “teensy pompadour” to “greasy Sir Lancelot”).
