Five Nights At Freddy’s video game to be made into a movie
Horror game Five Nights At Freddy’s—created by Scott Cawthon and available on PC, iOS, and Android—is a huge deal, though you might not be aware of that if you only know it from skimming through the Top Apps charts on iTunes. To the uninformed, it’s the one with the weird bear robot on the icon, and the screenshots that make it look like a security camera menu simulator. To Five Nights At Freddy’s fans, though, it’s a deeply spooky adventure about trying to survive in a terrifying Chuck E. Cheese knockoff while (not) cuddly animatronics try to kill you, and it all has a mysterious story that most players won’t be able to uncover. Anyway, we’ll let gaming site Kotaku explain the finer points.
Now, according to The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros. has picked up the rights to turn Five Nights At Freddy’s into a movie. Pride And Prejudice And Zombies author Seth Grahame-Smith is one of the producers, which is appropriate since he’s an expert in taking things that already exist (in this case, Chuck E. Cheese robots) and making them scary. Grahame-Smith says he’s “looking forward to working with Scott to make an insane, terrifying, and weirdly adorable movie.” No director is currently attached, and the project is currently being shopped around to writers.
