Flaming Lips recording a six-hour song for charity
Do Flaming Lips make good music, or create really cool music-related gimmicks? At the band’s best, the answer is “both.” It remains to be seen whether “Found A Star On The Ground” will rank among Flaming Lips’ greatest songs, but it already belongs with the band’s zaniest ideas. “Ground” is a six-hour song that the Lips plan to record to benefit the Central Oklahoma Humane Society and the Academy of Contemporary Music at the University of Central Oklahoma. For a donation of $100, you can have your name included in the song’s lyrics, which will likely end up being only slightly shorter than the Oklahoma City phonebook. To donate, go here.
