This past Sunday’s Simpsons was mostly forgettable until the end credits, when the signature yellow-on-black text was usurped by a roaring crew of rockers dressed like Ned Flanders. Many were shocked, but, as readers of The A.V. Club know, this was just Okilly Dokilly, a “Nedal” band who’ve managed to propel its Simpsons-inspired gimmick beyond parody. We first covered them in 2015, and subsequently hosted a rowdy A.V. Undercover session with the band in 2017. (We still have their TV tray.)

It was this past Sunday, however, that saw the fivesome hit the big time. “Neighborinos! We are beyond humbled and in disbelief,” the band wrote on Facebook, sharing a clip of their video for “White Wine Spritzer” being set against the Simpsons credits.

Their cameo, it turns out, came courtesy of showrunner Al Jean. “We saw the video and knew they had to be on the show,” he told Rolling Stone. “We do not endorse their message of indiscriminate drinking of white wine spritzers.”

Ned wouldn’t, either, of course, but the juxtaposition is what makes the band such a delight, especially if you catch them on the road. You can do exactly that this month, as they’re currently touring the U.S. on last month’s Howdilly Twodilly.

Watch the clip below, but not, of course, before finishing your game of Good Samaritan (maybe you’ll get to clothe the leper!).
