With the death of David Bowie, plenty of people are using their favorite clips, covers, and photos to remember the late rock legend. And some are using bits of the “Bowie” episode of Flight Of The Conchords. In the episode, Bret (played by Bret McKenzie) deals with some body image issues with the help of a ghostly version of Bowie played by his bandmate Jemaine Clement. The whole episode is a tribute to Bowie’s larger-than-life essence and sense of self, and it all culminates in “Bowie,” one of the Conchords’ best songs. A tripped-out space anthem sung in a way that cheekily pays tribute to the iconic singer, “Bowie’s In Space” asks the important questions, like “Does the space cold make your nipples go pointy, Bowie?” or “Do you smoke grass out in space, Bowie, or do you smoke Astroturf?” It’s all incredibly tongue in cheek, but there’s a sense of love and reverence there all the same. In short, it’s perfect for today.
