Fly through UK rock history with this neat interactive Google map

With practically the whole world watching and talking about the Olympics, it seems like a good time to remind people that British music is also pretty good. Hence the neat little Google map put together by MerchDirect, a company that sells music paraphernalia of all sorts. The interactive map lets Anglophiles click around a map of music-related British hotspots ranging from Adam Ant’s birthplace to London’s O2 arena, where the Spice Girls did a 17-night stand in 2007. Some of the locales are a little odd—birthplace of Limahl, anyone?—but others, like the art gallery where John Lennon met Yoko Ono or the location of The Verve’s first gig are pretty gawk-worthy.
