Foo Fighters get their own category on Jeopardy!, but not the best of the players

The Foo Fighters, whether or not they’re on an indefinite hiatus, have found the time to cross media and pop up in various capacities on TV. And last night, they made an “appearance” on Jeopardy! as a whole category of clues that was a little light on jokes, so maybe the clue writers don’t know Foo. Here’s some video of the Double Jeopardy round, shot in portrait mode and askew, which is a bonus.

The contestants settled into the band’s category after making their way through the etymological and genealogical categories. It wasn’t a disaster—two separate contestants knew the origin of the band’s name, and that Dave Grohl had previously played in Nirvana. But the Sonic Highways reference zoomed right past ’em, as did mention of “My Hero” (guess they’re not Varsity Blues fans either). Even though two clues went unanswered (unquestioned?), we imagine jokester Dave Grohl got a kick out of the “Foo Fighters” clues being adjacent to a category called “Learn To Fly.”
