Foo Fighters surprise fans with massive last-minute Lollapalooza afterparty set
The Foo Fighters aren’t technically playing at Lollapalooza this year, but that didn’t stop the band—which has a new album, Concrete And Gold, out next month—from making an appearance in Chicago this weekend. Playing at a “last-minute afterparty” (announced just two days before the festival kicked off), the band ended up taking the stage at the Metro for three and a half hours last night, playing a set list that covered pretty much their entire career, even paying tribute to the festival’s co-founder, Perry Farrell, who joined them on stage for a rendition of Jane’s Addiction’s “Mountain Song.”
Farrell is a common figure at Foo Fighters shows; he most recently played with them in 2015. Meanwhile, the rest of the band’s 32-song set list covered the gamut of their long career, from new stuff like “Run” and “The Sky Is A Neighborhood” all the way back to their very first single, “This Is A Call.” You can see fan-shot footage below, and the full set list right here.
