Food blogger accuses Burger King of stealing the blame for inventing Mac N’ Cheetos
Most of us would probably be pretty happy if a big corporate entity decided to step up and take the blame for one of our numerous crimes against man and God. But not bad-food blogger The Vulgar Chef (tagline: “Eat like shit.”) The Chef—a.k.a. Kyle Marcoux—is characteristically pissed that Burger King has seemingly stolen one of his awful food ideas, the recently buzzed-about fried Mac N’ Cheetos.
Marcoux posted his own recipe video for a very similar “food,” “Cheetos Crusted Mac N’ Cheese Fries,” back in September of 2015, well before BK unleashed its latest appetizer torture devices on the world. And while the possibility of parallel devolution is always a factor—after all, you can only have so many people boredly punning on “Mac N’ Cheese” for so long before the same idea starts popping up—Marcoux’s little fried balls of dusty noodle do look a lot like the ones being remorselessly offered up at your local fast food haven.
Speaking to Foodbeast, Marcoux expressed his ire toward being ripped off, and notes that the up-and-coming explorer in the fields of gastrointestinal errors needs to always be on guard. “At first, I was like, what the fuck? Like… you’re fucking Burger King. It actually is a little flattering that a company as large as BK would take an idea from a fat, drunk, illiterate food blogger who is basically an internet food troll. Kind of sad if you ask me.” Marcoux also noted that he’s had to contact places like Giordano’s Pizzeria and Buzzfeed in the past for allegedly ripping off his and others’ ideas, and said, at the end of the day, that all he wants is credit for bringing Mac N’ Cheetos into the world. God knows why, but he does.
