Possibly feeling the pressure from the recently launched Viceland and its string of foul-mouthed foodie fare from folks like Fuck That’s Delicious rapper Action Bronson, the Food Network is firing back by offering fans a lineup that wouldn’t look out of place on Fox late night in 1992. The network—lead by new chief content officer Kathleen Finch—has apparently tapped Arsenio Hall and David Alan Grier for new comedy-focused shows, sure to lure in all those hip millennials still mourning Martial Law and NBC’s dear, departed DAG.
Details are light on either series, although Variety is reporting that they might take a page from Dave Attell’s old Comedy Central series Insomniac—or possibly Anthony Bourdain’s various “watch me be the world’s most aggressively enthusiastic tourist” shows—with Hall or Grier exploring cities around the world and riffing on their cuisine.
Hall’s last regular TV gig was the syndicated revival of his name-making ’90s talk show, which ended in 2014. Grier, meanwhile, currently stars on NBC’s surprisingly interesting The Carmichael Show, when he’s not appearing as The Cowardly Lion or freaking out white people by pretending to be the new Colonel Sanders on Twitter.
