Food science officially runs amok with brunch-flavored candy corn
Looks like pumpkin spice everything was simply the opening salvo in the autumnal war on clean eating, as Grubstreet details Brach’s newest foray into novelty-flavored, high fructose corn syrup-based snacks. Called “Fall Brunch Favorites,” the bag contains candy-corn renditions of French toast (sugar), strawberry waffles (strawberries and sugar), and chocolate-chip pancakes (chocolate and sugar). Speaking of, PopSugar tasted the new candy-corn flavors and declared them to be “very reminiscent of a Yankee Maple Pancake candle,” which is pretty much how The A.V. Club felt about the Pumpkin Spice Oreos released around this time last year.
Should you wish to try them anyway, they’re available exclusively at Target for $2.50 a bag through Halloween. The unifying factor between Halloween and brunch remains unclear—hangovers, maybe?—but the insulin spikes just reading about it.
