For just $29,900, you could be the owner of this massive Nintendo collection
As reported in the Milwaukee Record, a Milwaukee man named Charles Amble is selling his massive collection of Nintendo games and ephemera on eBay. The current asking price is $29,900—or the best offer—and that’ll net you his entire man-cave-filling hoard of games, consoles, boxes, figures, retailer displays, and more. All told, there’s approximately 730 cartridges here, from the NES, Super NES, Game Boy, and Nintendo 64. Why exactly is he looking to sell off this treasure trove? Life, of course. “Between the talk of having kids and moving to a house with no dedicated video game room, I’ve decided to sell my collection,” Amble wrote on the eBay listing. “For the past 10 years I’ve spent weekends at garage sales and making Craigslist deals, and this is the result. I hope my collection goes to someone who enjoys it as much as I have.”
Even if you’re part of the 99 percent of people who are in no position to be dropping that kind of cash on a bunch of video game stuff, diving into Amble’s collection through the power of the internet is a fun trip on its own. He’s uploaded several photos, giving a look at some of the weirder pieces like a working Super Mario clock, and made a Google doc that lists everything included in the lot, all 539 NES cartridges, 80 for the Super NES, 109 for Nintendo 64, and the handful of completely unrelated collectibles that sully the Nintendo purity, like a Bart Simpson Pez dispenser and Neo action figure.
