Forest Whitaker and 50 Cent to be Abel Ferrara's Jekyll And Hyde

So you've heard about Guillermo Del Toro's potential movie based on the classic Robert Louis Stevenson novella, The Strange Case Of Dr. Jekyll And Mr. Hyde. (It's looking less likely, apparently.) Maybe you've also heard that Keanu Reeves has also agreed to play both characters in yet another version, and that the screenplay for that version was written by the guy who wrote Revolutionary Road.

Sure, one sounds potentially great and the other potentially so bad it's good, but how about a version directed by the guy behind Bad Lieutenant, and starring an amazing actor and a rapper who can't really rap? Variety is reporting that it's greenlight-go for this contemporary version of the classic. (You know it's contemporary, because the stars are black!)

The strangest bit (to me, anyway) is that apparently Whitaker is Jekyll and 50 Cent is Hyde. I mean, I know Fiddy has been shot a bunch of times, but Whitaker seems far more capable of scaring the shit out of people onscreen. You saw him in The Shield and The Last King Of Scotland, right?
