Fox buys blue-collar comedy from It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia producers
Deadline reports that Fox has picked up a new comedy from It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia executive producers John and Dave Chernin. The network’s ordered a script for the single-camera comedy, which the Chernins will produce with 3 Arts’ Oly Obst and Nicholas Frenkel for 20th Century Fox. No directors or actors are yet attached, but that will probably all change when they get wind of the “refreshing” fish-out-of-water theme—or if that Bill Burr comedy becomes a hit.
The show’s goldfish in a koi pond will be a blue-collar woman who learns how the other half lives when she moves to Greenwich, Connecticut to look after her spoiled children of her fugitive sister. This hardworking gal is also described as “coarse,” lest you doubt her inability to navigate the upper social strata. Knowing the Chernins, the lead character will probably have difficulty dressing the turkey, or have way too much fun with the bidet.
