In news that would prompt reference-laden jokes about robot retooling had anyone actually seen the show yet, Fox has pushed the premiere of its new J.J. Abrams series Almost Human back by two weeks. Originally scheduled to launch on Nov. 4, the show—in which Karl Urban is grudgingly partnered with an android, and then he’s like, “Where do you want to get lunch?” and the android is like, “Androids don’t eat lunch,” and Karl Urban is like, “OH, GREAT” (we assume)—will now debut on Nov. 17 at 8 p.m. ET, right after Fox’s NFL Sunday doubleheader. The very next night it’ll premiere in its regular Monday slot, where it’ll be paired with Sleepy Hollow, with those combined hours of J.J. Abrams sci-fi and Alex Kurtzman/Roberto Orci spookiness hopefully filling the hole of the departed Fringe between the two of them. In addition to giving Almost Human a boost by exposing it to passed-out football fans, the idea is to maintain Sleepy Hollow’s streak by keeping Bones around as its lead-in for a couple more weeks, before Bones moves to Fridays. In the meantime, as everyone has pointed out since this project was first announced, Mac & C.H.E.E.S.E. is still on YouTube.
