Fox is finally going to make The Wolverine this time, really

After a couple of years when it looked as though Fox might entirely forgo making The Wolverine in the wake of Darren Aronofsky’s abrupt exit, the studio has finally come around to taking a chance on making another film within a blockbuster comic-book movie franchise. It’s now set a debut date of July 23, 2013 for the follow-up to 2009’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine, allowing enough time for everyone who found that movie disappointing to forget it, unless they're in prison for it. It will also allow Hugh Jackman to wrap Les Misérables and relax his golden pipes, before shoving chickens down them to bulk up. As previously reported, James Mangold will direct the story set in Japan—and presumably still loosely based on Frank Miller/Chris Claremont’s 1982 series, although that’s yet to be confirmed. That means there’s also plenty of time left for wild, irresponsible speculation, such as suggesting that it’s all about Wolverine fighting Godzilla, touring the nation’s karaoke clubs, or doing research before opening his own ramen food truck. Enjoy it before boring facts get in the way.
