Plenty of characters on Fox’s Empire are thirsty for fame, and now the network is opening the doors of the fictional Empire Entertainment to real musicians across the country: On Thursday, Fox announced the start of its “Fox’s Next Empire Artist” bus tour. Starting in Los Angeles, the Empire bus will travel to 15 different cities, equipped with a recording studio where fans can record their own versions of Empire’s hits, which means a slew of fan recordings of “Drip Drop”are coming Fox’s way. Yikes.
Fans will also have the chance to record a capella versions of the songs to submit to the “Fox’s Next Empire Artist” contest, and the winner will appear as a new Empire Entertainment artist in the upcoming second season. Who wouldn’t want a chance to have Cookie Lyon throw a shoe at them?
Empire returns on September 23.
