Never mind who watches the watchmen. The question has shifted to who owns the movie rights to Watchmen? See, back in 1986 a studio called Fox acquired the rights. Then a whole lot of legal stuff that I won't pretend to understand happened. Now Fox is claiming that it Warner Bros.' forthcoming Watchmen adaptation might not have been within their rights to make.

post on the subject takes some steps to clearing up the matter.
Short version: Maybe you'll be seeing Watchmen in 2009. Maybe not. We'll always have that trailer, however.
