Fox picks up comedy pilots about lovable losers and corporate assholes

If the drama pilots Fox picked up earlier today were a little too dramatic for you, the network has just ordered a pair of comedy pilots that you can ease into like a warm bath. First up is Type A, which comes from New Girl and Odd Couple veteran Lesley Wake-Webster. The show is about a team of consultants are are “hand-picked to do the dirty work most professionals can’t handle,” which basically means that they’re the jerks who tell people they’ve been fired. The show is also “loosely based on” a book called Assholes: A Theory by Aaron James, which also got a timely sequel early last year.

The other show comes from executive producer Will Ferrell, and it’s called LA —> Vegas (a title so aggravating to type out that it will easily dethrone Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. in that regard if Fox doesn’t come to its senses and change it immediately). That show sounds a lot more confusing, with Variety saying it’s “an ensemble workplace comedy about a group of underdogs trying to find their place in the world,” but rather than happening in a workplace, it’s apparently set on “the Friday night flight from LAX to Vegas and the returning flight on Sunday.” It’s unclear if that means the entire series will take place on one weekend or if each episode will take place on different flights to and from Vegas, but there’s going to be a lot of airplane stuff either way.

But seriously, Fox. Call the show something like LA To Vegas, or Losers Going To Vegas, or Roll The Dice, or Wacky Airplane Ride. Even Agents Of A.I.R.P.L.A.N.E. would be better than LA —> Vegas, though that might require tweaking the plot a bit.
