Fox releases another 10 seconds of The X-Files footage
Fox already provided 10 seconds of footage from the new X-Files revival, and now they have graciously bestowed thirsty fans with…another 10 seconds of footage, because Fox is as evil as Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny. The new footage opens on a close-up of a blown-out tire and moves through a sequence of similarly meaningless yet suspenseful (or, rather, “slow, intense, functional”) shots, before Fox Mulder in all his sulky glory shows up and asks “are you ready for this, Scully?” “I don’t know there’s a choice,” Anderson’s Scully replies. Smash cut to title card! Scully and Mulder’s faces aren’t even in the same frame in this teaser, so what’s the point?
Fox also teased a few brief seconds of Scully and Mulder creeping in the dark after Wayward Pines last week, and casting news has been pouring in over the past few weeks. While we don’t yet have 10 seconds of footage to enjoy them in, self-identifying X-Files fanboys Rhys Darby and Kumail Nanjiani are set to play supporting characters in the revival. Lauren Ambrose and Robbie Amell are also Vancouver-bound, and The Lone Gunmen will be back to spout conspiracy theories for Mulder to get excited about.
The X-Files returns January 24, 2016, and Fox will air one episode a day leading up to the revival, in addition to occasionally revealing 10 seconds at a time of Mulder believing and Scully furrowing her brow.
