Fox renews The Mick for a second season
According to Variety, Fox has already picked up midseason comedy series The Mick for a second season, noting a few times that the show is “a favorite of Fox execs.” The series stars It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia’s Kaitlin Olson as a very It’s Always Sunny-like woman who suddenly has to raise her bratty niece and nephews when her rich sister flees the country. It’s sort of like Manchester By The Sea, but different in almost every way.
In a statement, Fox exec David Madden said that the network has had “enormous faith” in The Mick ever since it was in development, and it “hasn’t disappointed.” The first season had its episode order bumped up to 17 early on, but there’s no word on how long the second season will be. Also, Variety says that it’s coming in “the 2017-2018 season,” which makes it sound like Mick fans won’t have to wait too long before seeing more wacky Mick adventures—though the first season is still airing, so new episodes are never that far off anyway.
