Fox reveals a few seconds of X-Files revival footage
At the end of last month, the official X-Files Twitter account cryptically tweeted out today’s date. A promo, it seemed, was destined to drop. Today, Fox delivered on its promise…sort of. The network announced via YouTube that, starting tonight, one episode of The X-Files will air each night for the next 201 days, all leading up to the revival’s premiere on January 24, 2016. Yep, you can pass the time by re-experiencing every single episode of The X-Files over the next few months.
Buried at the end of the announcement is the briefest of looks at the revival, which started shooting in Vancouver last month. Fox, it turns out, is an even bigger tease than Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny, offering only a few seconds of footage—and it only took a few more seconds for the internet to turn those few seconds into GIFs.
We mostly just see Fox Mulder and Dana Scully entering a dark room, flashlights and guns at the ready. It definitely looks pretty “slow, intense, and functional,” as promised by Anderson, as well as confirming that Scully holds the hell out of a gun and wears the hell out of a pantsuit. Beyond that, there isn’t much to go on. Still, we only have to wait 201 more days for the truth.
