Fox takes down episode of Family Guy after an edited clip appears to make Peter Griffin the Boston Marathon bomber

Fox has taken a recent episode of Family Guy off the Internet after an independently edited clip from the show went viral yesterday. In the pretty sick clip, two different scenes from a March episode, “Turban Cowboy,” are edited together, making it appear like Peter Griffin set off the bombs that killed three at the Boston Marathon earlier this week.

In the first half of the clip, sportscaster Bob Costas asks Griffin, “How’d you do it,” as Peter leans out of his car at a marathon finish line, runners on the ground behind him. The clip then cuts to a shot of Griffin dialing a cell phone while explosions happen off-camera.

Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane, who is no stranger to offending people, Tweeted that the clip was “abhorrent,” and said “the event was a crime and a tragedy, and my thoughts are with the victims.”

So far, Fox has just taken the episode of its website and Hulu and is working with YouTube to get the doctored video taken down there as well.
