Fox will try to give away some dogs
Since cats have taken over the Internet, it’s time for dogs to take over television, at least for two hours. A Hilary Swank-hosted special was announced last month under the title The Great American Dog-A-Thon, but will now air on Thanksgiving night as Fox’s Cause For Paws: An All-Dog Spectacular, and will be co-hosted by Jane Lynch. Swank, who is also co-producing, says, “More than 9 million animals end up in shelters every year and only half of them make it out.” The special will try to find homes for dogs by Black Friday using the soulful puppy-dog eyes of dozens of celebrities, including Betty White, Scarlett Johansson, Kathy Griffin, and Max Greenfield. The show’s website encourages people to adopt locally, and it features the handsome mugs of about 20 dogs who need your love. So when you’re stuffed to your eyeballs on turkey and pie, think how much better you’d feel if you had to go walk a dog instead of collapsing on the sofa in your sweatpants.
